Team Spacing
1. Always be in a position to help your partner if they have been hit or grabbed (There is cool down time when the opponent can be hit. This is a free hit. Capitalize on it!!)
2. Always be in a position to follow up and punish an opponent that has been hit or grabbed by your partner. (This leads to sick team combos). You basically want to always have one of the opponents in between u and your partner. *Warning: If u do this u still need to be paying attention to the opponent behind you. Don't blindly try to 2v1.
3.Always be in a position so that if your are hit or grabbed your partner can help you
4. Position yourself so that you are not in your partners way when they attack.
5. In theory you and your partner should never be on opposites sides of the stage. This is not teamwork. This is 1v1v1v1. If this is going on then one team or both teams arent playing dubs correctly in my IMO. Of course, if you and your partner are outskilling the other team without utilizing teamwork this is okay. But to take the gold and in general be the best team that you can be, practice these tips of mine ;)
6. Extra tip* Most people should know this but surprisingly alot of people don't do it. Just watch some dubs vids and see for yourself. WHEN YOU GET A GRAB 90% of the time you should pummel the opponent. Smash is a mental game and this opens up many variables. It makes their partner go super aggro and make small mistakes as they try to save their partner. It also, allows for your partner to get nice punish if they are utilizing team spacing. Also, if the opponent trying to save their partner doesn't have good team spacing they may damage their partner heavily while trying to save them.
Shield Pressure
Work together with your partner to lower the opponents shield. In theory you and your partner should take turns attacking a shield so that the opponent can not react and has to block. When the shield is low enough the opponent will no longer be able to block and you and your partner punish accordingly.
*Go through some of my dubs vids(I suggest watching M2k and I at Clash 1 or Fow and I at Genesis 2) and see how I utilize these tips. It allows me to get sick followups, nice saves, and play well. Also, watch how the other opponents or my partner doesn't(if they don't) use it and see what happens.
If u don't wanna watch me do this lol I suggest search for "Whobo3 Ally and Dojo vs Gnes and Razor GF". Ally and Dojo are doing exactly what I am talking about. Dojo plays support/punisher while Ally takes the lead. The teamwork in these matches are beautiful by them. This is one of the rare teams in the smash community actually using good teamwork in my opinion.
*Your on your way to becoming a great dubs player if you can do this! Of course raise yer individual skill as well. Just know that individual skill isn't enough in dubs also master teamwork! You can do it!
Thanks Jules. I appreciate that. I'll continue to help out the community and upload some more tips in the future.
