Rare live recording of Quatermass performing the unreleased track MONSTER IN PARADISE, 14 March 1971, at the Rheingoldhalle in Nakarau, West Germany, opening for Uriah Heep. This was the opening number of the band's 45 minute set and just 3 songs total were performed. The other two were tracks were 'Make Up Your Mind' & 'Gemini' from the Quatermass album. Featuring Peter Robinson-keyboards, John Gustafson-bass & vocals, Mick Underwood-drums. This is an audience cassette recording made by German taper 'HB', and has been remastered and eq'd as much as possible for posting here. 'Monsters in Paradise' was never released by Quatermass, but did appear on the 1972 debut album 'Bulletproof' by Hard Stuff, which featured John Gustafson and former Atomic Rooster members John Cann and Paul Hammond. The one and only Quatermass album, released in 1970 on the EMI Harvest label, is a landmark and pioneering progressive rock recording which predates the release of the debut album by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Thanks to YouTube member MrLuciferburns for sharing info about this rare recording.

  • To se the record start this was recorded by the famous German taper known as HB.

  • @MrLuciferburns: Thanks for the correct and detailed info. Do you have a good quality copy of the entire recording? :)

  • Horrrrible Quality. What's the use 4 this?

  • @zitzerbernd: The 'use 4 this' is that it is SUPER RARE and affords the only opportunity to hear Quatermass live. The posting details clearly state "This is a poor quality audience recording." As poor as it is, I'd rather hear this than never know what the band sounded like live.

  • @jonsilence ---- great song do you know where i can get this live version, or what bootleg has this live song.. or is there some record that contains, this live song...

  • where can i get this recording.. i love that hard to hear one thousand miles away-sound......

  • Ok, I understand your intentions. I've been just a little disappointed cause I expected something that I could download and than enjoy. It's a document, alright. By the way: I saw them live in '71 in a small location in the north of Germany. I remember that I thought: Who the fuck is Keith Emerson? I've seen them smoking pot before the gig and it smelled soooo good. No surprise they performed superb. Best regards, jonsilence, and don't be pissed at my comment

  • finally. thanks. all we need is the beat club videos. 2 songs where are they?
