That was one of the BEST KO's I have EVER seen in me life! I was SO pleased for The Black Flash, cos in them days, in Italy or anywhere on the Continent, it was Knock em out to get a draw! He FLATTENED, STARCHED & IRONED this Ittie... Pheew!!

Barrett's heart just wasn't in the sport. A real physical talent, though. One of the most devastating punchers I've ever seen, world class or not.

With the fight being held in Italy I was surprised it wasn't declared a draw. You usually have to knock them spark-out to get anything over there.

@Pannells80 I seem to remember the referee being Danish.

Its sad to read such negative comments (BAFONE) I was one of the trainers when Patrick first started. I remember the cold winters night I took him to Dr Davitt for his medical
When he first came to the gym he was a very quiet, likeble and gentle young man. He let his boxing do the talking. This never altered throughout his career. RESPECT Dermot

@SpiritFearon hey Spirit what a war you had with Dave Walker. I might be able to up that to youtube, I have it somewhere.

I do beleive i will be seeing you next thursday Pat...I carnt wait..
Loved your fights that many years ago..
Really good result here for Barrett.I reckon he would have given Chavez a way better fight than anyone else in the light welter division but it just wasn't meant to be. A true knockout puncher a la Julian Jackson was Barrett. Such a shame he never reched the heights his talent deserved!

If Barrett's a clown then it doesn't say much for your fella, does it?
Barrett was a very good fighter and one of the biggest punchers I've seen. And for the record, Calamati was a very decent boxer as well, both as an amateur and a pro.
