Not to be rude but you have to engage the clutch and the alternator simultaneously at no delay after starting the engine. You never ever turn them on before starting it up. Look at the checklist in the helicopter. That's why it's there.

@gamerfowler Agree with Jed on this one.. As the R22 i Fly had teh same issue when the V belts were replaced. Clutch Disengaged, and new belts so tight that Rotors turned during startup.

maybe that guy ( that starts the engine) think he is in GTA San Andreas world which is starting a helicopter is just like in this video.

Jesus, check the sprag clutch, it's supposed to engage gradually. The starter isn't supposed to turn to rotor blades. First start up and already needs a check for damage.

And what, pray tell, have new V belts not slipping in their sheaves got to do with the spag clutch? If you fly one of these machines I'd suggest you get someone who knows something about them to enhance your understanding.
