When happens when a killer DM gets invited to a British party? Chris Perkins traveled to the UK to find out—in a celebrity game featuring Graham Lineham (comedy writer), Marty Jopson (presenter), Louise Champion (Orcs Nest games), Paul Moore (Patriot Games)—and Ian Livingstone (co-founder of Games Workshop).

  • Alcohol (or other intoxicants) are always welcome at my games. As long as it doesn't go so far as to turn Hack and Slash into a game of Slack and Hash.

  • I like that Chris Perkins gives tips and allows his players to, within reason, redo their moves for more tactical advantages. Most DMs I know would have said "No, you created that elf woman there, it stays there." Chris Perkins saw that his player didn't know it would have conferred a flank, allowed him to reposition it, and everybody was happier for it.

DMs tend to forget that the players need fun too.

  • Wow, healing and an attack?

  • @ryanp11 That's why you roll behind your little screen. You can change the number to what ever you want to make it more challenging and more entertaining for the heros. Your job isn't to follow the rules but to make an enjoyable encounter. Just a thought.

  • I find the worst thing about DMing is what happened at the end. When I set up a challenging encounter for my players and they breeze through it because I roll poorly throughout.

  • Ah he didn't tell the halfling about second chance

  • Don't dwarves have +2 against poison

  • all those sirens leads me to believe the game has been played in a seedy back room of some bar. Winner gets a +5 flaming longsword as a prize :O

  • This is a great alternative to my satisfy my gaming urge until the Pathfinder campaign I joined can start. I'm really enjoying watching their party play.

  • @Galev12

You should use mine, they have a +4 bonus! Ha Ha Ha Ha (i hate my life)
