@DragonAdored .Music doesn't have to be cohesive across the board with one artist's catalogue, any decent artist should be able to dabble with influences and styles because it's their music at the end of the day, it's their creativity. You'd be equally miffed, if not more so, if every song sounded the same from 1995 to 2011. It's hard to like things we don't understand, maybe those who don't like this don't understand the song or where Richard is coming from these days. it's about experiences.

@DragonAdored no I'm not suggesting you haven't grown, everybody grows, just maybe you haven't grown in line with Richard which is why you don't like or get this tune. That's what I meant when I mentioned relationships. The fact you're female is irrelevant, ppl in relationships either grow together or grow apart, that's the similarity I was drawing with musical appreciation of a given artist like Richard whose music, and indeed himself, has changed.
