Lathi charge on Protestors

Protestors claimed that the main civic body was responsible for the city's water crisis. Mumbai has been in the grip of a severe water shortage and supply cuts of 15% to 30% have been imposed in many area.

According to Senior PI Bhaurao Bhawle, We had to take a stringent action against the unruly mob, controlling the mob was difficult task and thus we applied Lathi charge. We have arrested 13 members from Swabhimaan and they were produced in front of magistrate court on Thursday and they were released on bail immediately. They were charged under Sec 141, 143, 145, 147, 149, 151, 152, and 153,341,353,427 of IPC. When asked about the reason behind Dholakiyas death, Bhawle said, He did not die because of our Lathi charge, but he died in hospital of a severe heart attack.
Whereas protestors had a different say about the police brutality.
We were just protesting for water that is our basic rights, but what we got in return is our own blood. We had not expected such kind of treatment from police. They gruesomely charged on anyone in the view. cited Vinay Yadhav, Nitesh Ranes personal secretary who fractured his hand in the police lathi charge.
Several other protestors were agitated by the police behaviour as the Lathi charge was a shock for them. I came all the way from Navi Mumbai to protest for our water problem, but police did not spare innocent people like me. I am scared now, said 50-year-old Ram kadam.
