Garbage piling up in Oakland, Calif.

The lockout of nearly 500 garbage truck drivers in the East Bay is entering its second week, and in some parts of Oakland you can smell the problem. We visited several neighborhoods where the trash has not been picked up in more than a week.

Most residents we interviewed are angry at Waste Management Inc. for locking out the Teamsters who drive the trucks and catching customers by surprise. But many people fear that all the piles of trash are unhealthy, especially since Oakland residents throw their food waste into the same green bin where they recycle biodegradable yard clippings and weeds.

On Tuesday, we reported that many residents of Upper Rockridge and other parts of North Oakland had their trash picked up on schedule. But many people reported that no one picked up their trash.

Where i live (in Oslo, Norway) thy pick up the garbage ones in a week and few times after christmas, or like those kind of days its not often they dont pick the trash for over 9 days.. thats rare.. but if it happend, well, than we use our own trailer to drive it to the dump-place.. =)

Do they still use those awsome Burgundy and white wastemanagement garbage trucks i just love those when they used them all over, if anybody wants you can go on facebook type in I wish waste management would go back to burgundy and white and join maby they will that would be awsome :)

all waste management wanted to do was make the union members take some responsibility for their actions. I was there and they had no clue they were fighting over things they were already doing. I was there from begining to end, it lasted a month and a half. Also we are not scabs we are waste management employees that were chosen to cover the union employees until they came to an agreement.
