My 2nd attempt at StarTrails + fireflies, these are cooler than before.
Jam on Ziggy with the spider from Mars!
T1i + 15-85 @ 15mm, each 20 sec exposure, over 370 images, just over 2 hrs of images.
Captured as RAW, import into Aperture 3, no PP whatsoever, just export as TIFF for StarStax to make startrails.
Time Lapse Assembler, iMovie11.
All done in Mac OsX.

  • Note: this star trail video timelapse is using the cumulative image saving feature in StarStaX.

The cumulative stacking then timelapse gives a different effect/feeling than a std timelapse.

StarStaX is a fast multi-platform image stacking and blending software, which is developed primarily for Star Trail Photography.

Besides star trails, it can be of great use in other settings, see here.

StarStaX allows to merge a series of photos into a single image, where the relative motion of the stars creates structures looking like star trails.

StarStaX is available as Freeware for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.

    Quote:

Time Lapse Assembler allows you to create movies from a sequence of images.

Provide it with a folder containing sequentially named JPEG images and it will produce a Quicktime compatible movie file for use in iMovie or other editing software.

    Features

Exports MPEG, H.264, Photo-JPEG, and RAW movies

Select between 0.1 and 60 fps (new in version 1.5)

    Allows resizing of finished movie

  • What was that last big streak going to the left at the end? Do you know?

  • @jadehhh

for 6-7 images the U of M Emergency helicopter, which flies North/South over our home in its flight path, came into the frames.

  • Excellent picture. I first saw this on the 'Astronomy Picture of the Day' website and then saw it again on the 'Mac Rumours' forum and then your link from there to here!!!

  • Hello

I realy like your picture of Fireflies. I'm journalist at Ciel et Espace, the biggest magazine in French. We would like to publish your picture on our web site . Is that possible ?

We could put a link to your website.

    Best regards
