We use Adam S3-As as well as a pair of Genelecs. Can't say about the Mackie monitors since I've never used them. However, I can say the Adams are a dream to work on.

It usually depends on the style of music but I can say I like the C414s, KM 184s, U89s(the black ones), and Earthworks TC-30s. Again it varies between projects.
