Love is a 2 y/o Std. Poodle, born into rescue... and her (canine) mother was not comfortable allowing humans near her pups. Love has grown-up as a much-loved only-dog living in a city apartment, and has developed behavioral issues such as pulling on the leash, ignoring her owner's requests, 'going crazy' during car rides (bouncing/barking/spinning/hitting windows constantly from trunk to front), and under certain circumstances will guard anything 'valuable' in her possession (food, toys, humans, bed, car etc).
She is visiting me for two weeks to learn how to be more responsive towards her humans, and how to be a 'follower', rather than an unsure leader. Over the course of these two weeks, I will be uploading clips of our training sessions.
I'm not using a clicker at this point because it would be cumbersome to juggle until she is at a point of focusing well without darting off. Instead, I am often using the word 'yes!' as a marker, or just using encouraging words for her to continue what she is doing. I'm treating her with Red Barn rolls of meaty dog treats, and will be mixing in various kibble and other treats once she is willing to take them.
Love is very smart (that is part of the trouble ;) ), and she is learning each concept we work on quickly. I'm so glad to have the chance to work with her.
LOVE your videos. Wish you were closer too :) Need help with training my two Standard Poodles to walk "civilized" on the leash, especially when I walk two of them together :) Dreaming of a day when I can take them both on a city walk without being pulled into a ditch.
