Author and children's musician Johnette Downing presents "Books Sing!: Linking Lyrics to Literacy" at the 2010 Louisiana Library Conference Association. Johnette explains how her songs & books can be adapted for different cultures and how librarians can use the books to show students how to write their own stories. The performance includes Johnette singing TODAY IS MONDAY IN LOUISIANA (http://bit.ly/a92Qj3), DOWN IN LOUISIANA (http://bit.ly/bYIepj), MY AUNT CAME BACK FROM LOUISIANE (http://bit.ly/aO63fD), and CHEF CREOLE (http://bit.ly/akIegC), and the librarians presenting their adaptations. Johnette is assisted in the video by storyteller & author Dianne de Las Casas.
