  • Nice vid. I have been looking for the long strap for a long time. Where can I find one?

  • @lam2jas The strap in the video is made from a 5' dog leash and cost about $4 at the local drug store.

  • Beware of the hood on the 24-70. It may look strong, but it's only held together by 3 tiny screws which are only anchored in 1/4" of plastic, and I've heard about people picking up their gear by it only to have the screws rip out and their camera and lens falling to the ground.

  • @SLRist you're correct I should always grab the barrel of the lens. good point!

  • Holding a 70-200 by the hood? You're braver than me!

  • @SLRist actually many times I put it in hood first but the hood is strong enough to work but not as strong as the hood on the 24-70 Nikkor!

  • @areacable Nice one. Maybe I will give it try and get a spider holster first.

  • @dk2893 the meta data says 200mm. I've heard some say it's more like 190mm but I'm not sure how to tell. I guess I could compare it to my 70-210 f4 lens. I bought the D700 to keep the cost and weight down. Unlike pro glass the bodies are replaced more often so cost is more of a factor and the D700 works great for covering events which is most of what I do.

  • Thanks for the information... Don't listen to all those people how tell you what to say, it really doesn't matter what you say, people understand. I have two questions. First have you noticed any variations with the focal length of the 70-200? and Second what caused you to by the D700 rather than the D3 or D3s?
