Polar Bear Disco Dance

After the polar ice caps melted, our favorite polar bear found himself with nowhere to go. The snow and ice that once covered his native Churchill, Manitoba was gone, and the local restaurants required shirts and shoes in order to receive service. Since polar bears only wear pants, there was no longer any food left for him. Luckily Hong Kong stepped up and agreed to accept environmental refugees. So our friend the polar bear made the long trek to Hong Kong in what appears to be Indiana Jones' Twin Otter only to find that his new life in Hong Kong is in a boring, and poorly lit, apartment building. But fortunately this isn't just any polar bear, this is a disco dancing polar bear, and with a bit of work life in Hong Kong is about to get exciting.

This video started off as a simple 3DS Max assignment in ARCH 428 at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Take a boring room and a boring camera angle, and make the room interesting by only adding lights (and the appropriate fixtures) to it. It then grew to become more complex as I decided to use the opportunity to learn about character animation using skin and bones. And finally a story line was added to give me an opportunity to further experiment with lighting, atmospheric effects, and video editing.
