America's biggest welfare recipients are corporations. Defence contractors, pharmaceuticals, farming companies and oil companies get gigantic government subsidies and tax breaks.

For the likes of Goldman Sachs and the taxpayer funded defence contractors like Lockheed and Halliburton, there's no such thing as a free market; the government, Pentagon, and Federal Reserve basically give them free money handouts.

Answer: Both live off the US taxpayer, but the Lockheed employee is likely thieving far more taxpayer's money than the unemployed man.

Might I suggest the parasites working in the defence industry go and get proper jobs in the private sector instead of living off the state?

The Tea Party was against the bail outs YEARS before "occupy" How come occupy is so late? Not only that, the TP is against all corporate welfare... again, years before occupy.

@Relugus The difference is simple - the LM employee produces something for society (not just war material), pays taxes and supports their community. The hippie produces body oder and a drum circle at best. Companies in defense produce many many products that you use all the time, so before you decry the defense industry I would look at their full impact. Lastly, we have Americans working in these companies and for the most part are all union plants - do you wish to see them all fired?

And when I see someone vehemently put this point forward, I can't help but remember all the fanatical ultraconservatives that look down on the unemployed one minute but assert current policies are 'job killers' the next. Are there sufficient jobs for all these lazy pot-smoking hippies or is our seditious, Marx-loving White House destroying jobs? Which is it?

@greycloud24 Then these Hippies should get a job. There are currently 3.2M jobs that are unfilled in America. Small business are screaming for good hard working people to come and work for them. It is not hard to get a job. You get out there - and apply. You show up for the interview on time, well dressed and without your childern in tow. I can not tell you how many times when I was hiring in my business that people would show up late, unkempt, and with a 2yr old screaming. Get a job.
