I remember in 1963 our Judo Club from Ft. Waltom Beach, FL going to Pensacola Naval Airstation to workout with Kotani Sensei. At that time he was doing a Goodwill Tour on behalf of the Kodokan. We both had just been promoted, me to yellow belt, the first rank and him to 9th Dan, red belt. It was not below himself to workout with us, even me a very young boy of the first minor ranking. I have my own Judo Club and my meeting of Kotani Sensei is one greater memories and examples of a true Judoka.
Do you any information on the great newaza master, Shibayama sensei, it would interesting to knkow whether he is stil alive and what kind of material he left. (maybe videos or something.)
I just found out that the Red Belt pictured with my Gramps is this man.
