Along with Hennig, Kurt Angle is probably someone that needs little introduction to the wrestling world. Kurt reached the peak of his amateur career in 1996, when he won the Olympic Gold Medal. Afterward, he would make the switch to professional wrestling, and the rest was history. He debuted in 1999, and enjoyed a lengthy undefeated streak into early 2000. After losing for the first time, Kurt bounced back by winning the Intercontinental and European Titles, unifying them into what he would call the "EuroContinental" Title. He would lose both in a Two Fall, Triple Threat without being pinned. In the fall of 2000, he would win the WWF World Heavyweight Title, keeping a hold on it until 2001. He would become the leader of the WWF forces after Stone Cold defected to the Alliance, although he would turn on the WWF in the final battle. In 2002, he found himself tagging alongside Chris Benoit, and the two were an incredibly ferocious duo. However, Kurt's peak came later in the year, when he once again won the WWE Title, and engaged in a long feud against Brock Lesnar. It was here that Kurt's neck began to deteriorate, and his condition continued to worsen. In 2006, he joined the upstart ECW brand, and after a few months, left WWE altogether, and soon appeared for TNA. He and Samoa Joe took part in a trio of brutal matches. Kurt's success would eventually follow him to TNA, where he would become a TNA Champion, X Division Champion, and Tag Team Champion(but NOT the IWGP Heavyweight Champion). He also competed in the co-main event of the 2008 New Japan Pro Wrestling Tokyo Dome show, wrestling Yuji Nagata in a great match. A month later, he would lose his first shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Title. Back in TNA, he formed the Main Event Mafia, and even brought a portion of them over for the 2009 Tokyo Dome Show, where he and Giant Bernard had a bit of a scrap, and ended up wrestling one another a month later. Now, Angle seems to be at a turning point in his career, as he's become the target of TNA newcomer Desmond Wolfe(aka Nigel McGuinness). Angle's style is built around the Belly to Belly Suplex, as well as the Rolling German Suplexes. Many have fallen to the Angle Slam, and many more have tapped out to the Ankle Lock.

  • WOW !! All those guys were in japan together !! But can someone explain to me when Kurt went to Japan was he still under TNA contract or what ?!

  • The match with Lesnar was prior to his time with TNA, while the rest was during his TNA tenure. TNA and New Japan have shared talent in the past.

  • Did Kurt invent the angle slam or was it (like most moves) invented by a japanese wrestler or something?

  • The Argentine Slam itself has been around for decades, while Angle is the most prolific user of the move(aside from Takashi Sugiura).

  • kurt did to win the iwgp title and was a quadruple champion he held the igf version of the titles which is still a world title in that company so change that

  • The belt that Angle won wasn't officially recognized as the IWGP Heavyweight Title. It was the IWGP belt, but at that point in time, Lesnar wasn't recognized as the champion.

  • Can we agree that jack swagger ruined the ankle lock

  • In terms of him using it out of nowhere, perhaps.

However, Angle using it as a nearfall(barring the Grapevine version) does far more harm to the move.

  • @RatedRSupastaaar You have a point, but I found Angle in ECW quite entertaining. He was allowed to be the "wrestling machine" he really is and didn't have to act like a crybaby like he had to during his first few years in the company.

  • That Jap was no match for white Kurt Angle.

  • It's a shame that WWE didnot use kurt properly..... The guy was Gold.... Best wrestler, good with mic, was funny, intense.... WWE ruined it all by sending him to resurrected ECW (which itself was a shame) and let him go to TNA.

  • Cena, Orton, Batista, Vince disliked this video !!!!

  • @TheSuicidalDragon Thank you :)
