I recently had colon surgergy and was off work recovering. I took the time off to learn this great piece by Bill Monroe. I like the sound of it played on the banjola, it gives the piece a real minor key feel. I know that my adaptation of this piece is not the "true" version, but it is what I hear in my ear. My banjola is a Goldtone that I have had for a couple of months.

  • This is the baseline Goldtone model. There are a couple of upgrades available. If I bought another one, I would get a built in pick up.

  • I'd never even heard of this instrument before until about 30 seconds ago. Nice job! It sounds very soothing.

  • I like it.

  • Excellent playing, much better than I can do. However, may I just make a suggestion of something for you to try? I am a guitarist who now plays banjola, rather than a banjo player, and I think this has made me play further forward than a normal banjo position. It might be worthwhile playing over the soundhole...

    Worth a try anyway! :)

  • Excellently played and a nice version you put together. I'm a "wooden banjo" fan myself, having acquired a "manjo" recently. Made by Glen Reid of Burk's Falls, Ontario, it's got bigger (guitar size) bass strings, but otherwise tuned like a banjo. With a body like a fat mando.

  • Hey There,

My dad also got a Banjola so i showt him ur vid! Ur playing it good :-) Better then my dad LoL

    Keep up tha good wor!

  • Thanx chris for your reply. The built-in pick up is a good point. The pat cloud banjola seems to be the right choice for me.

keep on playing such nice melodies

  • does anybody know which brand this banjola is? Goldtone?

    enjoyed listening!

  • Outstanding! Very unusual instrument - but it has a great sound for a minor key song like JR - -I really liked it.

  • nice job
