Ah, a vid back when gymnastics was EXCITING....
...as opposed to the let's-see-how-far-we-can-push-
the-difficulty-before-impact-t rauma-becomes-the-norm era of today. -
this shows the art of building energy within an arena - many gymnasts lost this with the new requirements they now need to fulfill. an era to be missed, this is!

@cj222100... Last i knew it was all levels. I do know kim and her husband chris own "Texas Dreams Gymnastics" in Coppell,Texas..
-
@medicatedchestrub Really? That'd be cool having a coach that went to the olympics. Does she coach all levels or only elite?
-
sorry no "a"
-
@cj222100 .. Kim is a now a coach in Texas.

I remember feeling so bad for her in the 92 olympics, because I don't know what happened, but she just didn't perform like this, and they kept showing replays of her messing up over and over. That's when people seemed to stop ignoring Shannon Miller. After that, I don't remember hearing anything about Kim Zemeskal, wonder what happened to her?

Yeah, I really worry about gymnastics, because the new judging system makes the routines much less exciting and more prone to error. When a crowd finds a sport boring and can't understand the judging, the stadiums become emptier and emptier. I hope that doesn't continue to happen, but it's not looking good.

I love her!! I remember watching this when, I was still in the single digits;).....I love when gymnastics meets are in the United States. The crowds go insane!!!

i dont know why but i just love watching multiple whipbacks. It just looks so amazing that I cannot explain it.
I've never heard a more thunderous reaction than this one from a from a gymnastics performance. Amazing. What this the first time she performed her trademark triple whip-back?

@bluebirdsin No, she had performed the triple whip-back in competition since 1989. The crowd knew that with a great floor routine in her final rotation, she would be the first American female gymnast to win the all-around gold medal :)

Anybody know how she scored on this routine?

@ReedieBop yes, her score has been in the video description since I put it up on YouTube, you just have to expand the description to read it all. She scored a 9.987 :)
