WROC-TV Ch. 8 Rochester Anchor/Reporter Tina Shively interviewed Dr. Mowl, Barbara Di Giovanni, and Cooper and Paul Norris regarding the Rochester School for the Deaf (RSD) and 4201 Schools budget crisis on February 23, 2011.

I just found out about this. I'm in CA. I didn't realize NY was having their own budget crisis. I hope the schools can be saved. Deaf children in a mainstream environment don't have the complete educational and one-on-one tools they need to succeed. I'm glad they will be making trips to the State Capitol. I wish I could be there to be in the fight! I'll be keeping everyone in my thoughts, and hoping big!

While public schools get funding, everything new? New schools coming out as the population grows. Funding to other schools, not the Deaf SChools? Why don't all of the public schools share the fund cuts all across the board, not only the Deaf Schools? Special Education system's wrong anyways, it is time to open a Deaf Education Department and be Deaf Centered for real education! Cuts is for everyone in the state, not only Deaf folks. Are we being cursed and facing stumbling blocks?

Why do they show captioning right in the middle of the screen and the font is so small?! Hope they can save the schools.

@mewznpurrz I guess Channel 8 designed the captions in the middle of the screen since they tend to place banners at the bottom of the screen so it won't contrast with each other. We know it is not the best choice but better than nothing. We just need to continue to voice our concerns by contacting our legislative members and if anyone lives in NY, they can participate by helping writing letters to them and attending to the rally on March 10th.
