In this New England Conservatory master class, Jazz bassist and NEC Visiting Artist-In-Residence Dave Holland talks about the early influence of Ray Brown and learning from records during his youth.

British-born bassist, composer and bandleader Dave Holland has worked with greats such as Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Kenny Wheeler, Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker and Anthony Braxton. Holland was a full-time member of the NEC faculty from 1987 to 1990 and was awarded an honorary degree in 2003. As Visiting Artist-in-Residence, he conducts two NEC residencies each year, one in the fall semester and one in the spring.
