A few QRP QSOs on the 40 Metre band using my FT-817ND on 5 watts. Contacts made around midnight on 17.06.2010 (local time). I had a USA contact on this radio but with a small vertical a few days before this on 12 meters so conditions are improving. QS0s on this video with S52WW, I5REA & IN3ACQ. I will do some more videos soon. Also my new blog, www.amiga600.net is being launched soon!

Sorry about the sound balance between me and the radio. The 2nd QSO is the shortest but when I cracked it and will position the mic like how I did in that video in the future.

  • Nice to see you enjoying your qrp there.

Just try living without your 817nd, once you've had one. Even if you have something else in the shack as a main rig, you still get the need to use that little rig often. I truly believe an 817 with the optional filters and dsp, plus maybe a little 100 watt amp for when the going gets tough, would be all the radio you would ever need. They're very good.

  • @G0IFI

Thanks Perry. The '817 is my only radio now. I agree it can be all things to all men. I am planning on getting a HF packer Amp for a little more out when the going gets tough (my LDG Z-817 can only handle 20w), and that's all the plans I have to increase my station - other than the occasional change or modification of HF antenna!

  • @a120068020 I didn't stick to that did I? I have an FT-2000 in the shack and an FT-857 for portable work! Whoops!
