This is a video demonstrating how ridiculous Enchanting gets in unpatched Torchlight with a high level character and level 10 Barter skill.

With just a bit over 40k gold to use, the level 89 Destroyer in the video makes a 1813 DPS weapon from a basic magical weapon bought from the village smith.

As you can easily get over 20k gold from each level you clear in lower floors of the Shadow Vault (aka Endless Dungeon), you can make really ridiculous items really fast with a high level character. Sharing these with your lower level characters I'd call even cheating, so do not exploit the system for your own benefit! These ridiculously powerful items are only needed in the later levels of Shadow Vault.

UPDATE: Please notify that this only works in release version of Torchlight. 1.12 update completely redone the process how Enchanting price is calculated, so you can not make high level enchated items this cheap anymore even with level 10 Barter.

  • emm,hi =) if i try to enchant good epic items,it says me about new enchants, but im not see this new enchants on item, can you tell me,why is it?

  • @isorSOT Sometimes you get effects what you already have in your item. Their attributes DO increase though, but sometimes you might not notice which effect was increased. For example, you could have +10 to dexterity in a item before enchanting and get another +10 to dexterity effect from an enchant. After enchanting item's attributes are stated +20 to dexterity on screen. Enchant with previous duplicate effect on item does not show separately on screen.

  • how come he never gets your enchantments off

  • Just a lucky streak. Enchanting was way easier before it got balanced in patches later. For example, you could have a item with 20 enchants as the total change of disenchant was only around 70%. So, if you just spend enough of money, you would get a lucky item eventually.

Prior to shooting this part, I actually lost around 35k gold to disenchant with the first item I tried to use for this demonstration, I only just cut it out from the video.

  • @dumbasshadji Please read the video description before posting clueless accusations.

  • You can change the property of save file to "read only". When your item gets disenchanted, quit to title screen and reload the game. since the save file is now read only, the disenchanted item is not saved. When you are happy with the enchanting result, uncheck the "read only" property and quit to title screen. Play in window mode to speed up the process.

  • pff dont exploit for your own benefit...

  • Shifr + left klick is easier to put it in there.

  • @Cloudwalker2k3 Agreed, the enchanting system is way overpowered and it's very well worth the risk. In fact, IMO it could have been a little bit higher.

  • @anhnhvn thanks :D

  • @drLazyEvil Well its rly rly harder in 1.15
