the problem is I don't think he has ever played the song non-acoustically. So I would disagree that this particular version has no meaning, because I don't think anyone knows what the non acoustic version would sound like live because of the fact that I don't think it has ever been done. I may be totally wrong and if somebody has a link to a live version of this song non acoustic that would be appreciated. But either way it is simply brilliant.

I absolutely agree. I saw him live last summer and when he did this song, you could just feel the emotion coming out of him. I totally cried hahah.

This live version gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. I LOVE TOM!!!
You're right this song takes on a whole new meaning when he plays it live.Having Stevie Nicks is a huge bonus.God Bless you.

I've seen Tom Petty live a few times, and he usually plays Learning to Fly acoustically...and I must say, this song just seems to have more meaning, when it's played acoustic, I love it... ;)
