I had this as a wee child. I always loved how he would pronounce "Button".
I also loved how my father loved me. But rumor is i was wrong.

As a kid I was so blown away by this toy...lol Is that sad?? Oh hell I still think it's awsome!

why does 2-xl sound like a jewish man from brooklyn, nyc? I haven't been so entertained since I heard father abraham in smurfland!

Those tapes just work by moving the head up and down when you push a button. That's why it tells you to "push ze buttoh now."

The more YouTube vids I watch about the old Mego 2-XL, the more I feel the weight of nostalgia, loss and the death of my youth. I bet I don't have those old booklets and the checkers from my old Tri-Lex game anymore. :-(
I wonder if there's anything out there that I could use to record 8-track tapes. I'd love to dig out my old 2-XL again and give him a more "malevolent conqueror of the human race" personality. "Your feeble slave brain could not possibly solve this riddle, flesh slug..."
The voice is not a "classic Japanese interpretation of American English."
The voice is of the inventor, Dr. Michael J. Freeman Ph.D, himself.
