In the old days, bells from the local temple and shrine would ring around 5' o'clock, signaling the end of a day. After a long and hard days work out in the fields, the sound was indeed a welcome respite for the farmers. Somehow, they have retained this custom (and the melody too), luckily bridging the gap between the past and present, the old and the new.

Nowadays, the sound emanates not from thousand-year-old bronze bells but from the city loud speakers. I will surely miss this sound...
