Distinguished balloonist and University of Nottingham engineer Dr Janet Folkes has broken yet another world record for ballooning.

Dr Folkes, a scientist in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering, broke the female duration world record of 60 hrs and 12 minutes, a record set in 1995, during this year's Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett.

  • if this was 1910 i would be saying wow , but its 2009 . what about all the global warming using hot air ballons. Has Al Gore given his blessing. I hope the poor birds were not too upset with this reckless action. Good job Al gore uses a Jet. He cares about our planet...
