11 secs. Brilliant. Bird clocks Hawkins and you can already tell he's up to mischief. Funniest thing I've seen this week.

I remember playing gigs in those conditions and it was tough and I smoked myself. While I like breathing, I miss those days because the crouds were bigger, but because they all smoked, now they're dead

Take any 33 1/3 recording of Hawk, and play it at 45 RPM, and you will see where Bird got a lot of his chit

@jacimehof Find a life, learn to spell 'do' and btw, I am not a dude. Thanks you.

@boomerang905 Dude it's jazz... Hawk and Bird will due...

@TheHandsomeCrab I would agree with that to a point. It seems that they have good chemistry as friends though. The smile that Mr. Hawkins is holding back is a mark that they are on the same page. Mr. Parker would HAVE to know that Mr. Hawkins established the Sax as a solo instrument which means that Mr. Hawkins was a genius too. I never heard that Mr. Parker was egomaniacal or anything but who knows! It's just a nice moment to me.

@boomerang905 He's representing his strong ego don't you think?

bbc is lying. that concert was live. you can see that in the video below. check minute 01:03 youtube.com/watch?v=lBy8MIOQlQ
s something like that couldn't have happened during a pre-recorded session.
Check out at 0:30 how Hawk starts to laugh. Bird was getting him to crack up, which is most likely why he was told to cool it. This is some funny shit and a real gem of historical value so it's really wonderful to be able to see it. Thanks to YouTube and the uploaders. I only wish there was more footage available from that era but having this little it is worth a million.

Very funny clip. Especially Bird's reaction when he was obviously told to cool the laughing.
But it wasn't "this world" or "f----- America" that killed Bird. He did that himself.
