Seaford lifeguards are voluntary lifeguards whose aims are to keep Seaford Beach free from danger, to prevent loss of life from drowning by training young people in water safety, first aid, boat handling, radio operation and resuscitation.
This footage taken from the perspective from the helm position on the daughter boat, Y-199 of the Newhaven Lifeboat, the RNLB David and Elizabeth Acland. The daughter boat resides slightly aft of the bridge position on the upper deck. It is raised and lowered from this position using a hydraulic crane.
The lifeguards on this morning went for a brief swim in the very cold water off Seaford Beach on 3rd January 2010.
