cleaning bmw rim

This is me cleaning 1 of many bmw rims. I get alot of gripes about brake dust build up from my customers. Here you go. I hope you like.

Cleaning BMW rims with just water isn't good enough. You need the right chemical that will properly clean them.

What pressure washer are you using?

I'm having a problem getting the painted wheels on my '01 BMW clean. The brake dust comes off easy but there are these specs of black up to 1mm in diameter that just won't come off...even with Simple Green and a light scrub pad! Any suggestions?

Don't ever use simple green. What you would use to clean concrete, you would never use on a rim of a car. That chemical is a strong degreaser. Use a mild compound with a foam pad to polish your rims. Follow up with a sealer or wax.

You might have bought the brush,..but you definitely did not buy the chemical. It is made and sold here in my home town, and you cannot find it over the counter.

Indeed, you need chemicals (non agressive). Without the chems you can FEEL the dirt afterwards.

@ejbock use a detailers clay bar if you still have the specs, there pretty common and people use claybars to clean them off

how do i get rust of my hubcap rims on my 335xi coupe 2008 model?

My manuel saves otherwise and my experience as well... Car shampoo..brush and wax...and wash min. once a week...power wash or hose..

I've started using Royal Brown Wheel Cleaner. It's amazing! It still took me several hours of very meticulous cleaning but it completely restored my horribly neglected wheels. The tough, baked on brake dust and tar gave quite a fight but Brown Royal proved its worth. I followed with two coats of Poor Boys World Wheel Sealant, and that actually prevents a lot of the brake dust from adhering to the wheel. It also makes cleaning easier.
