La sceneggiatura originaria del film venne scritta da Quentin Tarantino, ma modificata radicalmente da Oliver Stone, Richard Rutowski e David Veloz, al punto che Tarantino decise di prenderne le distanze pubblicamente e chiese addirittura di togliere il suo nome dai titoli.
