This Duo-Art reproducing piano roll #6365 of the Franz Liszt arrangement of Chopin's Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brilliante Op. 22 was recorded in November 1920 by Alfred Cortot (1877-1962) when he was 43 years old. Other audio takes of this are on YouTube that barely acknowledge that this is a roll performance, recorded many years before modern audio recordings, the first commercial loudspeaker or the introduction of radio. So I decided to upload this take of mine recorded almost a year ago on a restored 1920 Steinway XR Duo-Art Grand. For more information, see www.historicpianos.com.

    Wonderful looking Steinway as well!

  • wish we could have a true recording of cortot playing the andante spianato...

  • I feel that the tempo of the Polonaise part is little fast .

    Is this accurete tempo ?
