Sakhalin Finnie, a teacher at Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy in Wilmington, California, was surprised on December 6, 2007 with a $25,000 Milken Educator Award for being an outstanding teacher. Milken Family Foundation Chairman Lowell Milken made the surprise announcement in a schoolwide assembly, with dignitaries including California Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell and Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Superintendent David L. Brewer III. Up to 80 outstanding educators nationwide will receive the Award this year. For more information, visit www.mff.org

  • Hahaha.. Ms. Finnie!!! Not sure what she did for that award either. Oh yea i do. She got one person out of 25 to pass the AP chemistry test with a 3. Hahaha!!!.. Impressive.
