What was great about the first 20 years of Sesame Street was it was a show for urban kids who can have a good positive way to learn about things. And Sesame Street had farm animals, since most urban kids don't see those very often. That and it shows good manners and how far you can get with them. And in the later years, people say Sesame Street did not teach children anything. Well, yes it did. The alphabet, numbers, manners, making snacks, nutrition, overcoming stress, and friendships.
(8:52) That's not the real Sesame Street News theme music. I guess this was because this was actually mostly made by Jim Henson Productions or another outside studio instead of CTW. Usually I'm more used to seeing that News Flash logo with the classic Sesame Street News theme from the 1970s with Jerry Nelson's "We take you now to Kermit the Frog with another fast-breaking news story!" (They were still using that on the show back in 1989.)

Is this all you have of the special? Actually, maybe it won't matter, since they're releasing this special on DVD in a few days.

Thanks for the dose of nostalgia . . . I was 3 when this aired, but I remember it clearly. I wish the rest hadn't been taken down.
