The new features of the Dexcom Seven Plus continuous glucose monitor. Lengthy video because there's a lot to show.

  • HOw much did it cost you every month?

  • @Spbeyond When insurance didn't cover it in 2007, it was about $220 per month. Now insurance covers it, cost is closer to $25 per month in copays.

  • I used mine for months and then gave up on it. It is to big and its football shape make it hard to carry. The case it comes with is a joke. No volume control for the alarms. Not happy with it at all.

  • I don't blame you, the size is monstrous. I'm hoping they'll make it smaller and provide more alarm customization in the future.

Despite that I've found it really helps me with my BG control. My most recent A1C was 6.4% Before I started on the Dexcom, my A1C was in the 8s.

  • @popwarhomie

can you tell me how much the dexcom 7plus costs and how much the sensors are. currently using medtronic but might want to try the dexcom

  • @boutwell719 Yes I do. Have a few others that want it too. But ive been busy lately. Hopefully ill remember to let you know if I still have it after I get in touch with them.

  • @popwarhomie do you still have the seven plus?

  • Ive got a Dexcom Seven Plus that is pretty much brand new that is just sitting in my drawer. I ended up getting a Medtronic paradigm pump that has the CGM built in. If anyone would like it please message me. It works perfect I just upgraded to my new pump and no longer need it.

  • Hi Bernard! It's Windy. I just started using my Seven Plus today. So far, I see huge improvements from the Seven model. This video was very helpful, so thank you. I was wondering if you have ever tried to use Tagaderm covers as to get the adhesive sensors to stay attached well longer... and if you have, does it effect the reception at all from the sensor to the receiver. Thanks!!

  • dimitmant I have been a Dexcom since March 2007, that's three changes to their software. It's been working mostly well for me and for many of my friends that are users.

As I said before, CGM is an imperfect technology, just like meters and pumps. Did you get a chance yet to try a different CGM? Of folks I know, the Freestyle seems to work very well.
