Karen's illness was apparent to everyone except herself
U sure?? It is NOT clear from this vid.. In retrospect... sure....
-
WE are all glad that AngieShit B is gone!
-
poor karen. she's just bones here. She was lips syncing too. The lady probably had no strength to sing live.
-
It pains me to see the clothes just draped on her body... just hanging off of her.
-
Great musician and talent.
-
Best version of this song ever!

Cass Elliot did not die from eating a ham sandwich! Get your facts straight please. Check it out on Snopes.com. Also this was not a live recording. She was lip synching. But still...one of the best pop voices ever!
-
If Cass Elliot had given that ham sandwich to Karen they might both be alive today.

@ge2298 Thanks for clearing that up for me.

She is missed.
Her music is the best.

@compxci oh my god. she died of a heart attack after recovering from anorexia.
-
@STEVEMOR909 oh my fucking god, no, she didn't think it looked good, she was ANOREXIC, that means that she thinks that she's too overweight, she was not, she was beautiful, she didn't want to look skeletal you old ignorant piece of shit. goodness, i hate people like u.

What a fantastic artist was Karen! It was a real tragedy losing her so young and for that stupid disease. It is very sad how she starved herself and went into that early death simply for not eating, She is one of my all time favorite singer, I miss her and I will never stop wonder how many more years she had ahead to give us her art and with her beautiful voioce make this world less depressing. Eternal repose to her soul!
-
Sadly in her own mind she thought that thin skeletal look looked good!

@BrendaJean75 THOSE PANTS ARE BACK IN STYLE NOW BOUGHT A PAIR @ CHIRSTMAS 11'

That's really sad. She looks like she's about to faint most of the time, and she may well have been fighting off hunger-related nausea. I really liked the Carpenters when I first heard of them. When my mum told me what had happened to Karen Carpenter, I was rather upset.

I thought she died of cancer
-
The Beatles did do a cover of this also in the early 60's, but the original was done by the Marvelettes of Motown label fame (Gladys Horton lead vocals, RIP)
-
Its give me goose bumps reading and watching this :(
-
terrible mental disorder anorexia is. shame
-
RIP darling girl
@sdsaztec True, and it is a tragedy that she died from an illness caused by a crazy culture that says women are only beautiful when they're thin. I remember the old saying, "you can never be too rich or too thin." Karen had a beautiful voice, and although I wasn't a big fan of their bubbly pop music, her voice was always lovely. She was only 32 when she died, and if that isn't a tragedy, I don't know what is.

How many people skipped the trashy ad to hear a classic voice?
