This is the junk Journal I made in the last video. IN this video I go through and gesso out some of the images, most of the text and basically prepare the pages fro journaling. After I put 2 coats of gesso through out the whole jouranl I add a little acrylic paint and sand down some of the pages to further prep them for journaling.

To prep your junk journal you'll need the following materials:
Bristle brush
Gesso
Sanding sponge
Acrylic Paint

  • what is tha type of hair drayer called

  • @ButterflyReborns It's not a hair drier it's an embossing heat gun it heats higher than a hair drier and uses less air flow so it won't blow the embossing powder around. Mine is some cheap Darice brand, many craft stores carry them.

  • Please keep the videos coming. You do have a talent in how you explain with out over doing it, lol. Love you!

  • @sherrell360 Thanks. I try to keep that balance. :)

  • @That70sHeidi Yeah I've baked it. It smells bad. Mine is 5 years old and it was the super cheap one that Michael's carries. It was about $19 back then. It's probably a branded version of the darice gun.

  • @comfortableshoesstud Have you ever super baked gesso/thick acrylic paint? It starts to bubble up in patches then slowly cools back down and gives a wonderful texture. Are you using any particular brand of heat gun? I've been using Darice blue guns, they're about $14 at a store.

  • @That70sHeidi I've never had a problem. I only use it for a few minutes at a time. I also have an old hair drier that I use for the same thing. A hair drier is better for paint anyway, it dries stuff, where a heat gun sort of bakes it. I may see if I can find a quiet hair drier and use that instead.

  • How do you keep from burning out your heat gun when doing this? I've lost THREE so far, because of the off/on issue. I'm debating just going for a hairdryer when I want to do a lot of prep. It'll be less hot, but more airy. Seriously bummed I keep wasting money on heat guns!

  • Very Cool!

  • thanx man! i watched your video's nice work!
