'50 Funk Licks You Must Know' pays deep homage to the players that laid down the foundations of funk such as James Brown alumni Jimmy Nolen/Phelps Collins/Alphonso Kellum, Funkadelic guitarists Michael Hampton/Gary Shider/Eddie Hazel, Freddie Stone (Sly & the Family Stone), Al McKay (Earth, Wind & Fire), Sugar Foot Bonner (Ohio Players), Leo Nocentelli (The Meters), Ernie Isley (The Isley Brothers), Nile Rodgers (Chic); as well as their descendants such as Prince, Vernon Reid (Living Colour), and John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers). To take it even further you're going to dig on major must know moments laid down by a collection of players who you may have never thought flew the funk flag such as Steve Lukather, Joe Walsh and Ad-Rock (Beastie Boys)! As an added bonus I went all out to bring you must know licks and riffs from the funk underground via guitarists like Brian Dennis (Dag), Simon Katz and Gavin Dodds (Jamiroquai), Simon Bartholomew (The Brand New Heavies), Adam Rogers (Groove Collective) and David "Fuze" Fiuczynski (Screaming Headless Torsos). These and a whole lot more six-string genius awaits you.

Well, you're both off base. Taken out of context, this may be hard to link to funk, but if you pay any attention to what a badass Prince is, you'd know without asking. Rap, however, has moments (like all music) where it is far richer than fans of other genres give it credit (hence it's insane pervasiveness through practically every society in the world). And rap is not an acronym. Google "etymology rap"...

maybe you could also learn how to speak to someone a little more kindly that is trying to teach you something. for free. i know you are just frustrated, but show some respect.

he has a close up view for god's sake of what string to fret. i don 't know "what the fuck he's on about'. are the majority of today's players tab slaves that they can't learn from SEEING it played? isn't that backwards? i thought tab was for when you COULDN'T see it explained. in close up!
oh well many paths, same destiny i guess...

it is called 'relic~ ing' a fretboard to make it appear as if it's been played for years and years. or maybe this one has been. i think it looks pretty good, don 't you?

If you're having trouble learning this, perhaps you should learn your pentatonic/dorian scales and try again later.
