Hemant Metah hooked me up with Jim Henderson, the executive director of Off the Map Productions and the guy Hemant "sold his soul" on e-bay to, to do an Outsiders Interview in front of a group of evangelicals. I explained my religious upbringing, by atheistic views, and my experiences founding the Northern Illinois University Atheists, Agnostics and Freethinkers (AAFT). There was a Q and A, after which I left. The meeting continued, and much was said about me- at the end of the video I am misrepresented by Mary Schaller, President of Q Place (formerly known as Neighborhood Bible Studies).

The final words I spoke which got cut from this video (due to mine own editing issues) are, 'love bombing.' I didn't want to re-render the entire video.

  • @philosage I'm not sure where I first heard that counterargument. Even before becoming atheist I was never particularly impressed with the "just look around you, sure looks designed doesn't it?" bit. When you start an Atheist/Agnostic campus organization you pretty much hear every religious argument and counterargument at one time or another, so hardly anything I say is going to be completely original. Alas.

  • I remember when that other girl from NIU spoke. I thought it was a little cowardly she didn't talk to you while you were there. Did the older woman actually call you a seeker when you talked?

  • @frankwolftown I did not even know anyone from NIU was going to be there. I never talked to her and no one told me anything about it. All I knew was that I had volunteered for this randomly. For them to go out of their way to find someone who knew of me and objected to my activism is kind of strange now that you mention it.

  • "Militant as Katie"? I missed you carrying an AK47 and RPG7. Heck, you weren't even unpleasant, just firm in stating your position.

As for the other girl on stage she seems a bit....sheltered. "People hold ideas and opinions that aren't like mine! Oooo, that frightens me!"

  • Did you feel nervous being around so many militant Christians?

  • @SecularSocFiend I loved your rebuttal to the watchmaker argument.Did you come up with that rebuttal on your own.I ask because atheists sometimes rely heavily on counter apologetics thats already been done for them. Not that is is necessarily a bad thing but if you did your come with that own your own then great! it just demonstrates the beauty of doing your own counter apologetics.

  • ou!tstanding!

  • Well done. You're a brave young woman to wander into the asylum while the inmates are off their tethers.

  • I love how the guy toward the end says he would not want the girls around his congregation for fear of conversion... tough to compete with reason and facts in a school for fairy tales. XD

  • Well done.

  • Typical Christians. A lot of them are just interested in converting you and nothing else. Ulterior motives and what not.
