csdparty: "Chinese mainstream" is the Chinese people, whom 70 to 80 % support the present government. Why? Because its success in defending China's sovereignty and prosperity.
Maintaining the status quo politically is the key reason for China's economic progress. Yes, that's the key difference between the "Westerrn Ways" (which is in decline) and the rising "Chinese Way."

Look up "Chinese Democracy Movement" on Wikipedia and note the reasons for its decline overseas -- in-fighting, losing touch with the reality in China today, and being against anything that's good for China's progress (ie. WTO, Beijing Olympics).
They have just become another Vichy organization, irrelevant to the development of China.
