  • @ epicfantasy : Hi, can you give me any advice on where to buy these mirrors ? How much would an 8" f4.5 mirror cost roughly ? any used ones (cheaper) ? Thanks

  • @Metalloys That will make a nice telescope. great nebulae viewing. Probably cost around 200 new. And ebay has a reputable company that sells them called Hubble Optics. Also, there are a few forums that have lots of telescope stuff for sale. try a site called astromart. Good luck and keep me posted on your telescope project. Would love to hear about it!!

  • i have a Nexstar 130 the mirror is dirty, are there a special way to clean...

  • @dlegeant77 yes, you have to be careful cleaning the telescope mirror. There are some good tutorials out there. Usually it's very mild soapy water and no rubbing on the mirror with anything. Do a search to find a step by step. I will be doing a tutorial on mirror cleaning though.

  • I have a 5 inch meade reflector, I know, its a cheapo. I actually was sent a much more expensive telescope, but sent it back as i didn't pay for it. This scope has been sitting in my living room for 4 years collecting dust. I have been moved into the country and now have an amazing view with almost no light pollution. I looked into the lens hole without a lens piece and the mirror is obviously dirty. How do I clean this? I am a simpleton, please help.

  • @story3 Nie, The 5 inch meade is a good telescope. And very nice work on sending back the more expensive scope - it was the right thing to do. There are some good tutorials for cleaning mirrors. Usually they use just a light soapy water. Check for a video tut. I will be doing one as soon as I can , but will probably be weeks from now.

  • @epicfantasy A fantastic video, extremely helpful and informative. Thanks for putting in the time and effort to help out noobies like me.

  • The eyepiece is not moved because it is a reflector (for example a Schmidt-Cassegrain has the eyepiece at the end), it is because it is a Newtonian reflector.

  • Thanks for this video, for a moment we thought it was backwards!! we bought it without a manual!! Thanks again.
