A lion head will cost you 2000 Singapore dollars. That's a lot of money, you are talking about. It is inauspicious or bad luck to keep the funeral lion in the store for the next use. So, they burn it after the ceremony.

Traditionally all funeral lions are made to only be danced in once. Afterwards, they are burned at the funeral.

@nekonya96 - It's a satire movie; the reason they're dancing is because they're supposedly good at the Lion Dance, and the town loves them for it. So they're doing it for a dog to bring in the money. No other reason.

I expected the dance to be for a highly regarded ruler. What was it about the dog that was special enough to get it's own lion dance? All I can guess was that it was well-known for doing something for someone or the pet of someone important to everyone at the funeral.
