The Witch remembered

Towards the end of 1971 in Kitwe, Zambia four talented young men and one school boy ie. (Chris "Kims'' Mbewe from the Twangs in Kabwe, John ''Music'' Muma and Gideon ''Kidkings'' Mwamu Lenga, from the Boy Friends also later known as The Peace Boyd ''Star Mc Boyd'' Sinkala from Black Souls- Emmanuel ''Jagari'' Chanda ''The Fresher' from school who was discovered by ''Groovy Holy Joe'' George Kunda). Comprised the original Witch band that recorded the first ever commercial album in Zambia entitled ''Introduction''.
Witch was an acronym for 'We intend to cause havoc|'' and was transformed from its fore- runner Kingstone-Market which was managed by a Mr. Christopher Kaluba. Later, Mr Phillip Musonda took over as the new manager and sponsored the first recording at ''Malachite Studios'' in Chingola.

The record was well received by fans around the country, which encouraged both the manager and the band to do a follow up recording of ''living in the past'' album at the same studio. This too, enjoyed a very good response from the fans.
The record company signed the Witch on for five years and under this contract the band recorded three more subsequent albums: "Lazy Bones'' at DB Studios in Lusaka ''Lukombo vibes'' and ''Witch'' at Sapra Studios in Nairobi in Kenya, and three 7" singles. The compilation on the CD you are holding right now is derived from the above referred to repertoire. Please enjoy it...
