Omphile : Who Am I?

Malaria, a dangerous and deadly disease spread by mosquitoes, has become an epidemic in Botswana. Omphile, dreaming of a malaria-free Botswana by 2016, seeks to prevent malaria and raise awareness about malaria prevention through Join Hands Against Malaria (J.H.A.M.), which distributes mosquito nets to small villages, since they often do not know about the dangers of malaria nor how to prevent it. She also works to spread information about malaria to those small villages because most do not have radios or televisions to learn about the disease and its dangers. Omphile hopes to acquire the help of important media figures, like her idol Oprah Winfrey, to build awareness about her project and malaria prevention.

This Public Service Announcement, directed by award-winning director Rick Fernandes, was written and filmed at the 2008 Three Dot Dash® Just Peace Summit in New York City, and helps Omphile spread her message to millions around the world.

Three Dot Dash is a yearlong global initiative of the We Are Family Foundation® that supports teen leaders around the world who are doing projects that help promote a more peaceful society by addressing one or more basic human needs:

Every year, Three Dot Dash provides Global Teen Leaders (GTLs) with the tools to expand their impact and learn how to better tell their stories from prominent leaders in order to gain media attention and public support for their projects.
