This film was incredibly creepy. The American version just missed the point, as usual.

I DO NOT get scared by horror films, never have since I was a toddler....this movie had me tucked up under my bed covers while watching it. The cinematography, use of sound, and the soundtrack were extremely effective and gave me the creeps big time.
I will say that my interest in the movie did start to wane by the time Junco disappeared, but I held in there. I wasn't jumping out of my seat about how brilliant the movie was when it ended, but I enjoyed it enough.

@ascetica0 LOL I've done far worse.

@LouisLambert You're right! I cringe when I watch this video now.
-
@CatnipHabit I think it's idiotic.

@NexusHUBSH I'm glad someone else recognizes that. Sometimes I feel that I'm one of the few people paying attention to cinematography, and other times I wonder if I'm just being goofy. But there it is, you were noticing the same things.

I don't think you can really have "scary bits" of this movie. I just watched it tonight and absolutely adored it, and here's the thing. The entire movie is scary. It needs its pacing, characters and atmosphere to make these scenes scary. On their own they're stale, but the movie is scary as fuck.

and the award for best use of Herb Alpert's "Spanish Flea" during a montage of scary-as-hell moments from a Kurosawa ghost flick goes to...
Didn't bug me, since I was watching at night with a laptop inches from my face since I couldn't sleep (yeah, I know, great cure for insomnia, might as well have taken no-doz sleep deprivation gives me incredibly stupid ideas) and needed a little comic relief... EEEK
