Plugins are generally available to add functionality. For example Rythmbox has plugins to support various external devices such as iPods and iPhones. Puppy comes with very trim software such as Gxine instead of Rythmbox. You can swap out applications as you like. I am not sure what plugins are available but plugins are generally a good thing as they allow you to t extend functionality of existing applications.
