Manjula, you have the best Indian recipes! I lost my South Indian cookbook with an excellent sambar recipe and was surprised that I couldn't find a good one anywhere on the net. Then I thought maybe you'd have one and sure enough this is EXACTLY like the one in the cookbook. Thanks so much!

@123sanjita Yes.. But it depends on your taste. Toor dhal gives a better aroma for me.. But moong dhal sambhar is literally the same..

Do we need Tamarind? Can I use lemon juice instead?
Well, I don't have a pressure cooker. Can I still cook the lentils in a regular pot? How long will it take?
