This is what I do to secure the tail on our Luscombe when I hand prop it. It was windy and cold outside the day I took this video and it's secured to the table leg for demonstration purposes. The system cost me $5 to make and works great. I can release the tail after I'm in the plane and buckled in :) This really is a plus when no ones around and I'm out to fly solo too. After I crank the engine, I use wheel chocks with short ropes to pull them away while I'm at the door. Climb in and reach out on the step & get the
white release cord looped over the gear step. Feet on the brakes & pull the release & pull the whole system inside the plane. Simple, safe and affordable. No more security concerns about a run away plane.
