@mnason4000 Actually the masts on the ship are short because the tops have been removed for some maintenance reason. A mast is in several pieces, and on a vessel this size the main mast at least has three sections each fastened at the top and actually overlapping slightly. If you will look at some of the videos of the USS Constitution on Youtube in a few of them you will see it with its masts down as well, the same as this. They remove them for repairs to the masts, rigging or hardware.
