Siskiyou County residents reacted to the newly released Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement mandating removal of four Klamath River hydropower dams, three located in Siskiyou County. Twenty-six groups negotiated the agreement without the dam owner, PacifiCorp, at the table. PacifiCorp represents 70,000 customers served by the dams. The Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors held their first meeting in Yreka last week to accept public comments. Comments of a PacifiCorp spokesman, Klamath Basin farmer, Shasta Tribal member, and local residents are included on a Capital Press video by freelancer Jacqui Krizo.

  • This is the first time that I have seen Pacific Corp openly stating that they were forced into this agreement to remove the dams. Of course we all already knew that...

  • The fishermen and Yurok/Hoopa Tribes are KILLING the fish. Get real folks!

  • In truth more land would be available, more water would go down the river like it is supposed to, and the fish and fisherman would get to live (as opposed to what happened last time corruption got it's way in 2001, and today the dam backers should help pay the fisherman for the loss of their jobs!). Saying that science is unrelated and there are no benefits to dam removal is like saying the world is flat. A very biased video.
